Amhurst Shutters - Cedar for the senses

wrc 2

The beauty of WRC Shutters begins with the wood. Made from stunning Western Red Cedar, Western Red Cedar is handcrafted to highlight the intrinsic properties of the wood. This elegant wood has an exceptional grain that creates the unique and distinctive appearance of the WRC shutters.

Fashioned in palettes lush with toasty, mellow tones ranging from light amber to deep honey brown, and infused with glowing reds and buttery yellows, these natural shades are a much-loved trait of red cedar. With a lacquer finish, the colour and tones of the wood will intensify over time. With paint, the solid colour will remain pure and unchanged. Whichever the choice, you are sure to discover a favourite.

The finest heirloom furniture is made from quarter-sawn wood to ensure generations of durability and so are the louvres in WRC shutters. In quarter-sawing, the wood is harvested in a way that makes it less susceptible to cupping, twisting and warping. Cuts are made parallel to the wood instead of across, which gives the wood remarkable strength and stability.

Traditionally used in furniture and building construction, mortise-and- tenon joints are designed to withstand the shear stress and racking forces applied when operating a shutter. This makes the mortise and tenon an ideal joint for shutters.

Multiple layers of wood are bonded together to bolster the stability of the core of the stile. This makes for a robust and hearty support system for your shutter panel.

A wide range of innovative frame designs, including frames with inserts that keep installation screws out of sight, provides for a clean custom designer-look.

Light-weight WRC shutters are perfect for exceptionally wide windows.
